Haute Ambassador: Lea Black’s Month Of Celebrations
April was a month of celebrations, and birthday celebrations – I am obviously surrounded by a lot of close family and friends that are Aries and admire their honesty, energy, dynamism and competitive spirit. My son, RJ., recently turned thirteen and we hosted a small gathering of his friends for an afternoon of outdoor activities. The party took place at our house, it included a lot of laser gun tag games; boys will be boys! The Wednesday afterwards, I celebrated my good friend and Haute Living CEO Kamal Hotchandani’s birthday.
Kamal’s birthday actually falls on the same day as my son’s birthday! We celebrated at a restaurant in Coral Gables called “Zielo” that is located at 264 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables. They offer a delicious gourmet menu, small but comfortable size portions. They include fresh ingredients in an upscale, elegant setting creating a very private and intimate atmosphere. It was small group of us and a fun worthwhile distraction from a crazy workweek. That night, Kamal had a swanky affair at The Forge.
My good friends Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Diva Elaine Lancaster and I attended the Miami Beach Gay Pride Kick-Off Party . The party was held Thursday, April 10th at the W Hotel on South Beach. It was a cocktail celebration announcing Gloria Estefan and Kenny Ortega’s participation as the Grand Marshals of the 6th Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride & Festival that was held before thousands of supporters that Sunday, April 13th.
The Miami Beach Gay Pride brings together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, their friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of the unique spirit and culture of the LGBT community. I am, of course, a proud supporter of the talent, vision and spirit that this community brings to Miami and makes Miami what it is.
My final big hurrah of the month was the Haute Living Magazine celebration of the Haute 100 issue at the new PAMM Museum designed by Herzog & de Meuron. It was a magical evening set against a backdrop of the Miami skyline. The selection of guests included some of the featured Haute 100 guests, Miami’s top business leaders and philanthropists. What really captured my attention was the design of the new museum, the lighting, the scale, the simplicity and the beauty of the space. It adds to the Miami skyline a destination that is “Haute Living”, culturally sophisticated and on par with any other museum in the world.
