More than 500 New Yorkers gathered at The Pierre for Save Venice’s annual masked ball, Un Ballo in Maschera, on April 4 to raise funds to preserve the cultural and artistic heritage of Venice. Sponsored by Dolce & Gabbana, HFZ Capital Group and Ferrari, the festive event raised $700,000 to help protect the iconic Italian city from eroding and disappearing, including restoration efforts of the church of San Sebastiano and Vittore Carpaccio’s Saint Ursula cycle at the Accademia Galleries. After enjoying dinner and dancing in the hotel’s main ballroom, which had been transformed into an enchanted floral garden, guests took part in a costume contest judged by style arbiters Hamish Bowles and Derek Blasberg.
