Tracy Mourning recently hosted the 11th Annual Hats off Luncheon in the Treetop Ballroom at Jungle Island. The luncheon, which celebrates and serves as a fundraiser for Honey Shine Inc., a mentoring program for young at-risk women, had over 600 guests in attendance wearing fanciful hats.  This year’s theme was “Peace, Love, Honeyshine” which is true to Tracy’s personal style reflected in both Honeyshine and The Mourning Family Foundation’s branding.  The day started early with a silent auction that featured vacation stays, jewelry and many coveted designer handbags that went fast. After bids were placed and items were won, guests headed to the ballroom for an extensive lunch buffet and a stage show emceed by DECO Drive’s Louis Aguirre .

Several Honey Bugs, or mentees, performed for the guests with moving testimonies to the program’s effectiveness, poetry readings and even a fashion show sponsored by Aventura Mall. Many Honey Bug girls were wearing Gap’s Spring/Summer collection and Bloomingdale’s current spring collection. To end the afternoon, acclaimed gospel singer, songwriter and actress Maryel Epps performed and had everybody clapping.
