Q&A: Moët Hennessy’s Christophe Navarre on Being Honored at Tonight’s Tribute Dinner


Tonight, Christophe Navarre, CEO of Moët Hennessy will share the spotlight with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa at the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Tribute Dinner. Navarre, who joined Moët Hennessy in 1997, and became CEO in 2001, is being acknowledged for his achievements building the company’s world leadership in the cognac, champagne and premium spirits industries. Haute Living gets the scoop straight from the honoree.


How does it feel to be honored with Nobu Matsuhisa with Martha Stewart as MC?

I am personally grateful for this great honor but more so for the recognition of Moet Hennessy. We have the most beautiful brands, each possessing a rich history, and I am pleased that they are so well appreciated here in the United States.

To be recognized alongside Nobu Matsuhisa is also very special. With 30 restaurants in 26 cities around the globe, Chef Matsuhisa has had a major impact on the culinary world and I’m so pleased to be honored with him at this incredible event.


Besides the Tribute Dinner, are there any events you are looking forward to attending at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival?

Absolutely.  I look forward to attending the Best of the Best Tasting where a few of our wonderful brands are being poured – Krug, Numanthia and Cloudy Bay. I’ll also have a walk around the Grand Tasting tent and cap off the weekend at the Southern Kitchen Brunch where Belvedere vodka and Chandon sparkling are being featured. It’s a great weekend for food and wine lovers like me to experience unique pairings of food with champagne and spirits, in addition to wine.


Moet is very well branded in the United States, how much help comes from involvement with events like the South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SBW&FF)?

Our brands participate in all kinds of events throughout the year, across the country. As is the approach everywhere, it is not about the size of an event, but more about connecting with an audience that understands and appreciates the extraordinary quality of our products, from spirits such as Hennessy, Belvedere, 10 Cane and Grand Marnier, to champagnes like Moët, Veuve Clicquot and Krug to wines including Cloudy Bay, Newton, Cape Mentelle, Terrazas and Numanthia.
