On May 10, the SLS Hotel in Belery Hills hosted the 10th Annual Bogart Wine Aficionado Dinner.
This year’s event, themed “Going out in Style,” raised $200,000 for leukemia and cancer research for infants, children, and adolescents at the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research labs at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
The Bogart Wine Aficionado Dinner featured a sumptuous four-course menu designed by celebrity chef José Andrés, paired to highly collectible and rare wines. Vintner Ann Colgin of Colgin Cellars was also honoroed at the dinner for her outstanding contributions to charity through wine. Colgin, a Bogart board member, was an integral member of the Wine Aficionado Dinner committee for several years. To date, her wine donations have brought in more than $7 million for various charities throughout the country.
The 2012 dinner concluded with a live auction conducted by Carte du Vin proprietor Jeff Smith. Guests competed with fierce and heated bidding over items such as rare wines, a private dinner with Burgundy expert Allen Meadows at event co-chair Robert Bookman’s historic home, once occupied by legendary Howard Hughes and Katharine Hepburn, a VIP Hollywood experience at 20th Century Fox featuring tickets to a table reading for ABC’s “Modern Family,” and the chance to own a piece of television history with an animation cell from the 1996 episode of “The Simpsons: Tree House of Horrors.”
Notables in attendence included pop star Mohombi and producers Ash Shah, Arthur Sarkissian, Michael Rotenberg, Bruce Mellon, Florence Sloan, Nadine Schiff Rosen
To date, the annual affair has raised over $2.2 million for the hospital’s “bench to bedside” pediatric cancer research program. Bogart will continue to hold its annual fundraisers including the upcoming 5th Annual Provident Financial Management Golf Classic on June 18th, the William Morris Endeavor Tennis Classic on July 22nd and the 2nd Annual “A Day of Champions” this October.
