Food Revolution Day at UCLA Hosted by Chef Jamie Oliver

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver hosted his first annual Food Revolution Day last Saturday at UCLA in Los Angeles. By using digital activism, the day involved global supporters of changing food habits and education hosted classes, dinners and online meet-ups in more than 600 cities.
Motivated by the desire to change the fact that people tend to be disconnected with where their food comes from, Oliver’s Food Revolution Day featured events in more than 600 cities, but Oliver himself was in L.A. for the festivities. Along with President and CEO of the UCLA Health System, David Feinberg, Oliver hosted a demo in his “Big Rig Kitchen” to show kids from the Boys & Girls Club the value of farm-fresh foods.
Other events in L.A. included a Green Lab Urban Farm, where a question and answer session was held and even a celebrity-filled dinner at Gjelina.
“Food Revolution’s heart is here in L.A. It’s positioned to drive the most change in the States…When you go to the poorest communities here, you can see the Hollywood sign, but there’s no fresh food available,” said Oliver.
