T Bone Burnett Honored by Elton John Remotely

Even though it’s award season primarily for film and television, we can’t leave out the music portion of our program. This week boasts a deluge of pre-Grammy festivities, and Wednesday night, 10-time Grammy winner T Bone Burnett was honored by two of his recent collaborators, Elton John and Leon Russell, via video messages (John was in NYC at an AMFAR event). The award, given by the Producers and Engineers Wing of the Academy, was to honor Burnett’s body of work, at Santa Monica’s Village Studio.
In attendance: Ray LaMontagne, Lisa Marie Presley, new favorites Secret Sisters, Neil Portnow and Callie Khouri.
