The label’s founding sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who are most recently known for their cutting-edge costuming in Black Swan, are the ones to praise for bringing back the playful tutu and feather trend. Now, they’re to blame for luring all us in to Opening Ceremony for a look at some new, timeless works of art, which are worthy of investing.

The massive, retro-inspired collection, designed for both men and women, showcases the duo’s impressive use of bold patterns and daring drapery. Expect letterman jackets, punchy floral blouses (for both sexes), oversized Mojave sweaters, deep pleated skirts, leather jackets, shoes, satchels, jewelry, and wayfarer sunglasses. The signature eeriness usually present in the label’s pieces appears to be missing on this particular occasion—there’s much more of a happy high school theme taking place with just a smidge of a bohemian vibe. Pieces range from approximately $200-$2,800.
