What Made Him Haute: Recognized for creating Asylum Records in 1970 and later Geffen Records in 1980, Geffen is an American record executive, film producer and philanthropist. According to Forbes Magazine, Geffen has an estimated net worth of $4.6 billion, ranking him as one of the richest people in the entertainment industry.

What Makes Him Haute Now: Geffen will be honored at the pre-Grammy’s “Salute to Industry Icons” on Feb. 12. He will receive the academy’s President’s Merit Award for his contributions in the music industry, said Variety. This is the second major award Geffen has received honoring his achievements in the music industry; least year, he was named one recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
