Given ample time, any worthy trend will reappear in your closet.
In lieu of a “more is more” sea of paltry threads, forgo your typical vintage store and step into a closet of vintage chic where each piece tells a tale of a classic find. In our throwaway shopping culture, Hollen and Jennifer’s Vintage Showroom leaves copycat couture behind. Flashback to runways of the past scouring one-of-a-kind pieces from the likes of Pierre Cardin, Chanel, Balmain, Lanvin, Giorgio Armani, Oleg Cassini, Norma Kamali, Prada, John Galliano and Gucci.
You don’t have to be a stylist to wake up glamorous eras teeming with fashion icons, but you do need a keen eye. Seeing to it that you step out into society mirroring more Jackie O than ’80s prom are showroom owners Hollen Rosenberg and Jennifer Sazant. Both vintage enthusiasts since childhood, Rosenberg and Sazant travel the country for glamorous designer pieces, in the most pristine condition, granting customers access to authentic designer fashions for a fraction of their original costs.
“We are a showroom, we own everything and we do not consign. We work to get the best prices and pass on the savings to our customers,” says Sazant. “We decide on every piece together, making this a true collaboration of love and passion for the most unique fashion finds.”
The showroom invites even the most discerning shopper for an intimate personal shopping experience. Welcoming clients with champagne and coffee, the stylish owners shower their clients with plenty of individualized attention marrying current fashions with rare sartorial gems from the decades. Organized like a closet with a seasonally changing offset room, vintage accessories: sunglasses, bags, shoes, jewelry, and feminine clothing are in endless supply.
But this isn’t your grandma’s closet…or is it?
“I get my flair for fashion and designer clothes from my mother and grandmother,” says Rosenberg. “My favorite era is the ’20s and ’40s, a time when it was all about glamour.”
When asked whose closets they wouldn’t mind stepping into, Rosenberg and Sazant agree upon Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss. The duo shares a similar style, classic with an edge, but shops with client’s tastes in mind.
When not on the hunt for the next classic find, Rosenberg and Sazant are always on the move, managing families and afterschool activities. The longtime friends-cum-business partners are the founding members of Children’s First Society (CFS) in connection with the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami.
The right kind of vintage will carry your wardrobe through the years. Ensure that you don’t show up to another event in the same frock as someone else with one-of-a-kind vintage dresses, or dress up jeans with extraordinary sequined tops. Whether you’re looking for a distinctive outfit for a special evening or a holiday party, or buying a present for the girl who has everything, Hollen and Jennifer’s Vintage Showroom testifies that vintage never goes out of style.
Hollen and Jennifer’s Vintage Showroom is open to the public Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is available by appointment only the rest of the week. The showroom is located at 1177 Kane Concourse, Showroom 201, Bay Harbor. For appointments, call 305.495.0143 or 305.785.3673.
