It’s Official, Swatch Watches Are Back in Style!

Unless you were living in a cave during the ’80s, you remember the Swatch Watch fad. These crazy neon-colored plastic watches were a major fashion statement back in the day, and anyone who was anyone wore at least one Swatch Watch (if not more) at all times. Like all trends, the Swatch phase passed, but it was only a matter of time before the Swiss watch brand would make a comeback.

On Oct. 7, celebs flocked to the red carpet at the Penthouse at the Gansevoort Park Ave. for the launch of Swatch’s New Gent Collection. The watches are inspired by the original Gents of the ’80s (Swatch’s original designs), but have been updated with a sleek vibe and bigger face, and come in modern colors like olive green, burgundy, purple, gray, black and white.

The evening was hosted by Nikki Reed, who was accompanied by her Twilight co-star Chaske Spencer. Attendees of this event were a diverse group of celebrities that included Susan Sarandon, Kelly Rutherford, Fabolous and Chris Brown each donning a Swatch or two.
