Farm-to-Table Restaurant Opens at Eden Roc
Lucy and Ricky Ricardo were not the only fans of the historic Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach. The iconic resort, which was featured on several episodes of I Love Lucy, has been the epitome of luxury escapism for celebrities and dignitaries since 1958. Now, after a $220 million renovation, the property is getting hipper, and its newest edition—1500°—is putting the hotel on the culinary radar of Miami’s most discerning food critics.
Opening to the public on Friday, Oct. 15, this farm-to-table restaurant, with a heavy steakhouse sensibility, will feature vibrant and seasonal cuisines, all in the hands of executive chef Paula DaSilva, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale’s acclaimed 3030 Ocean and a finalist on Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen. Restaurateur Seth Greenberg, the premier figure in today’s hospitality industry, will oversee 1500°’s operations.
“Our goal with 1500° is to appeal to visitors and locals alike,” DaSilva says. “Whether you’re a foodie tourist on a culinary exploration of Miami’s best restaurants, or a local looking for an exquisite meal in a gorgeous setting, 1500° will fit the bill.”
The restaurant seats 160 in a modern yet inviting dining room with an additional 40 on the poolside patio, and includes 10,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor dining space. The ever-changing menu boasts small plates, luscious raw bar offerings, juicy steaks, delicious entrees (called composed manipulates), and must-have side items:
Small Plates include roasted beets with seared goat cheese, jumbo lump crab cakes with cilantro slaw and aioli, baby Brussels sprouts with mustard sauce, teriyaki beef skewers
Steaks include 6-ounce Wagyu flat iron, 8-ounce skirt cuts, 34-ounce prime porterhouse “center cut” (to be shared, of course)
Sides include creamed spinach, grilled jumbo asparagus, duck fat steak fries, Carolina rice with chorizo
Composed maniplates include Florida red snapper with mushroom risotto, wilted arugula and aged saba vinegar; locally-raised half chicken served with Carolina rice, black bean puree and mustard greens; hickory-rubbed Palmetto Creek Farms pork loin chop with creamy polenta and roasted lobster with celery root puree, hearts of palm and Florida fruit salsa.
1500° is located at the Eden Rock Renaissance Miami Beach, 4225 Collins Ave. Call 305-674-5594 for reservations.
