Adrienne Arsht Center Celebrates Five Years With Special Black Tie Gala
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is truly one of the leading performing arts organizations and venues in the world. As a tribute to their success, on Thursday, Oct. 28, the Arsht Center will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a black tie, black-and-white themed gala.
Miami’s elite will join Adrienne Arsht herself, along with chairs Margaret and Mike Eidson, Marvin Ross Friedman and Adrienne bon Haes for a fun-filled evening of dinner and dancing. The gala will also include a special performance by four-time Tony Award nominee (and Miami native!) Raúl Esparza, who made his Arsht Center debut in this summer’s “Babalu.”
Proceeds from the event will go directly toward the center’s arts education and community outreach programs. The center’s president and CEO, M. John Richard explains, “This year’s gala will offer our supporters a chance to reflect on the impact we have made on the millions of patrons who have passed through our doors, the countless artists with whom we have collaborated, the tens of thousands of school children who have experienced our arts education programs and the dramatic role we have played in shaping our Downtown Miami neighborhood.”
The evening will honor several individuals who have been crucial to the development and success to the center. “The legacy of our gala honorees produced the two iconic Cesar Pelli-designed buildings that today serve as a cultural anchor for our community,” said chair-elect of the Performing Arts Center Trust, Mike Edison. And indeed, without these individuals and their generous support, the center would not be the first-class performing arts venue that it is today. These honorees include Adrienne Arsht, Lin Arison of the Arison Arts Foundation, Alberto and Susan Ibargüen of the Knight Foundation, Parker and Vann Thomson, Woody and Judy Weiser and Sanford and Dolores Ziff.
The Arsht Center is certainly deserving of such an elegant soirée, considering its five-year milestone. Here’s a breakdown of the night’s planned activities:
