Animal Instincts: Rise of the Phoenix

The Wit’s swanky new second floor lounge opened this week as a stylish, chic spot for fashionistas and theatre-goers pre-Roof party. As the newest addition to the already stacked lineup of restaurants and cocktail spots at the Wit Hotel, the Phoenix Lounge redefines the overdone hotel lounge. With modern, contemporary décor, live music, handcrafted cocktails and a menu of rustic, Mediterranean-inspired small plates from Executive Chef Todd Stein of the adjacent cibo matto, the Wit wants to be your one stop shop for pretty people.

Phoenix is the perfect spot to grab a pre-or post-theatre cocktail. Turn to the “Lush Red” or “Buttery White,” to bring out the vixen in you.  And given the setting: black velvet lounge chairs, plush silver leather banquets, contemporary black resin tables, and hand-blown glass bottle sculpture adorned with candles, fresh and fierce come to mind to set the stage for one sexy evening.

Catch live music every Thursday through Saturday, from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. Two performances by local and emerging artists will serenade you from the “perch,” a landing off the dramatic glass stairwell created to be more than just a talking point. The hand-selected acoustic vocal and instrumental acts complement the lounge’s refined ambiance. Meow.
