Death Faker Alive in Mexico

Patrick McDermott, the Korean-American lighting technician who disappeared five years ago is making headlines again…this time, not for his “death” but for his tranquility in some Mexican village. What???

Perhaps he’s most famously known as Olivia Newton-John’s estranged boyfriend—you know, the one that after breaking up with her suddenly disappeared and was later rumored to be dead. Well, he’s alive alright, and he’s working as a ship’s mate on a tourist yacht. How haute.

As it turns out, the 48-year-old Mexican resident was fine and dandy all this time. You know, just enjoying the sun while there were massive investigations going on in the U.S. in search of the guy.

The village he’s now rocking his gray locks in is called Sayulita and apparently dude’s been living there since his faux-death back in 2005. The most interesting part of all is that it’s been five years and nobody had noticed he was still alive.

Back in 2005, there were rumors that he had supposedly drowned, but not even investigators could come up with nearly enough evidence as was needed to prove this. That’s when all the rumors started that maybe he had faked his own death because he apparently owed his ex-wife a slew of Gs in child support.

But c’mon, obviously he was trying to escape something. It was even reported that he cleaned out both of his bank accounts before he disappeared into the wild.

Locals of the village mentioned that they did recognize Pat Kim, his name post-faux-death, but that they didn’t really care he was there or not. It’s a relaxed type of place and nobody really wanted to make a big fuss about it.

The only reason why this investigation is finally over is because police officials got word from some lawyer claiming to represent McDermott saying that he was alive and supplied the U.S. with proof of life.

Now, did ONJ know about all this?

Only time will tell. The only thing I can say for sure, is that I can’t wait until McDermott gives an interview on Larry King Live. That’s sure to skyrocket the ratings for a lifetime and send his bank account soaring.
