When Arnold Schwarzenegger wants a date, he gets it—and on August 26, he insisted that former mayor Willie Brown join him for lunch. The two dined at Le Central and were accompanied by Wilkes Bashford. As Brown wrote in his Chronicle column, “Willie’s World,” Arnold called him on Wednesday wanting to meet for lunch, and although Brown already had plans, he was told to cancel them. “What could I say? It was Arnold Schwarzenegger.” Brown noticed that the governor was more relaxed than he had seen him in quite sometime and in addition to greeting strangers, he also joked about his own personal stimulus package of the day—a Brioni jacket he purchased at the Wilkes Bashford boutique in Union Square.
