London Overtakes New York As Fashion Capital of the World

London has overtaken New York as the world's fashion capital for 2011, according to a survey by the Texas-based trend analyzer, Global Language Monitor. Based on a system that tracks the frequency of words and phrases in print, electronic and social media, London has officially claimed the top spot - a spot which New York has proudly claimed for several years previous. To mark the opening of Louis Vuitton's Miami boutique in Aventura Mall, the French fashion house invited New York-based Brazilian artist, Vik Muniz, to re-design the iconic LV logo. Los Angeles-based high-end clothing retailer, Fred Segal, recently sold his oceanfront penthouse in Laguna Beach, according to public records and listing agent Suzanne Robinson of P.C. Properties. (Suzanne Robinson represented both the buyer and the seller.) Listed for $4.995 million in March 2010, the penthouse saw a $1 million price reduction in June and was just sold for $3.3 million.
