Rachel Zoe was celebrated for her empathetic nature by none other than close friend Jessica Alba at the Children Mending Hearts 8th annual “Empathy Rocks” event.
Super stylist Zoe received the Children Mending Hearts Humanitarian Award from her gal pal, while last year’s honoree, Nicole Avant, presented the Ambassador of Peace Award to philanthropist, activist and entrepreneur Irina Medavoy. Both superwomen were spotlighted because of their dedication, hard work and commitment to the organization, which empowers disadvantaged youth through educational arts programs that teach empathy and global citizenry. The non-profit’s goal is to directly engage the youth of America in global children’s causes where they can positively impact the life of another child and ultimately realize their potential to effect change both in their own community and around the world.
The Honest Company founder Alba praised her pal to the skies as she took to the stage for Zoe’s introduction. “In light of so much hate in the world, it’s so wonderful to be part of so much light and love.” She continued, “Rachel Zoe, what a maj name. You know what else is maj about this woman and dear friend of mine? Her impeccable taste, her patented vocab, her motherly ways, her thoughtfulness, her determination, her smarts, her instincts, her spirit, her heart, her timeless eye, and her genius,” she said.
The two women hugged, before Zoe spoke, saying, “To even be honored today is amazing. What Lysa has done is unreal and heroic in my eyes. […] We do it to actually help as humanly possible.”
The sold-out afternoon family event was packed full with interactive games, activities, music, food, and summer fun for everyone. Kids were treated to painting stations, while their parents could purchase items at a shopping bazaar; 100% of the proceeds went directly to after school programs throughout Los Angeles.
Other talent attendees included Kat Graham, Rowan Blanchard, soon-to-be mother Ali Fedotowsky and fiancй Ryan Morrow, Jeanette McCurdy, Lydia Hearst, Garcelle Beauvais & family, Tammin Sursok and husband Sean McEwen, Torrance Coombs, Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos and more.
