Actresses, Models, and Moguls Glitter at Harry Winston and AmFar Gala
Harry Winston, Inc., the noted New York-based international jeweler, served as presenting sponsor at last week’s amfAR Inspiration Gala New York, a fundraising event to benefit the organization’s research programs and platforms for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS. This was the second year that Harry Winston partnered with amFAR for the gala, which was held at Skylight at Moynhian Station.
The black-tie event, dedicated to men’s style, also featured a menswear runway show, with selected models wearing timepieces, including the limited-edition Countdown to a Cure Timepiece, and accessories by Harry Winston,
Zac Posen, Princess Olympia of Greece, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Jason Derulo, Alek Wek, Victoria Justice, Valery Kaufman,Josephine Skriver, Andrea Pejic and Gabrielle Union were among the hundreds of stylish guests who turned out for the fete
And thanks to the jewelry brand’s involvement, there were some major gems on display. Victoria Justice wore over 27 carats worth of Harry Winston diamond pieces that included the Secret Diamond Chandelier earrings, and the Queen Diamond and Winston Cluster Diamond Rings. Gabrielle Union wore over 10 carats worth of Winston diamond pieces between her Straight Line Diamond Earrings with Sapphire Drops,·and the Winston Cluster Diamond Ring and Diamond Ring.
When it announced the three-year amFar partnership last year, Harry Winston become the first company to serve as the presenting sponsor for the organization’s 27 gala events taking place across the world. These events raise more than half of amfAR’s general operating budget, which helps the organization invest in new research and programs. The company is also a leading supporter of amfAR’s Countdown to a Cure initiative, aimed at finding for a cure for HIV/AIDS by 2020.
Earlier this year, to honor of its second year of partnership with amfAR, the company introduced the Countdown to a Cure Timepiece – a limited edition collection of 20 men’s and 20 women’s models. Retailing for $21,200 for the men’s timepiece, and $16,200 for the women’s, the watches are sold exclusively at Harry Winston salons worldwide with 20% of the retail sales price benefitting amfAR’s efforts to cure AIDS.
