If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of your city than Tierra Hotels in South America may be just the place for you.
Tierra Hotels is set in remote locations in Chile and were developed by the Purcell family, who are also owners and operators of the well-known Ski Portillo. Having been familiar with providing hospitality and creating lux experiences for patrons, the Purcell family decided to create more posh experiences for vacationers.
Tierra Hotels is a boutique style set of lodges in remote locations throughout Chile. The ultra-lux lodges debuted in 2008 with Tierra Atacama, a lodge set outside the village of San Pedro de Atacama. The first location of the family owned destination, Tierra Atacama was built on the site of an old cattle corral, where individuals who traveled with cattle from Argentina to the port of Antofagasta stopped to feed and rest their animals after crossing the Andes. With activities that take guests above 12,000 feet and an option to climb an 18,300-foot volcano, Tierra Atacama has branded itself as “adventure spa.”
The second location, Tierra Patagonia debuted in 2011 as the adventure spa in the far south of Chile. Located in close proximity to Torres del Paine National Park and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it provides guest with the opportunity to explore the mountains, pampas, woods, ranches, glaciers, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls of the Patagonia. The largest set of lodges, compared to the other locations, is nearly a five-hour trek from the airport.
The newest member of the Tierra Hotels family is Tierra Chiloé. Tierra Chiloé, which opened last year, is situated amid the blue waters of Chile´s Northern Patagonia. Travelers have access to a private boat and an array of other excursions are available to explore the island, whether it is by land or by sea.
All Tierra lodge locations maintain distinct architecture that reflects the surrounding region. The boutique style lodges is also deep-rooted in culture and timeless traditions. Guests can expect all inclusive, personalized services.
