Alan Faena’s Faena Forum is set to open in December bringing another important addition to the thriving Miami arts and culture scene. Faena promises that the Forum will bring a cultural monument to center of the Miami art world. Though Miami is host to Art Basel, the biggest art fair in the world, there has never been a substantial museum or center to provide the home grounds for the arts in the city.

Though the Faena Forum will display art, it will be according to the NY Times, a multi-disciplinary center that will proudly host dance, theater, political debates, lectures and any manner of other cultural happenings.

Faena is best known for rehabilitating the arts district in his hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina by marrying art and capitalism. Faena brings a similar vision with the Faena Forum and will hopefully be able to start a connected hotel and condo building that will co-exist with the Faena Forum.

The Faena Forum was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. Koolhaas teaches architecture at Harvard and has won the Pritzker Prize.

The center is 50,000-square-feet and will be located at 33rd street and Collins Avenue.

Faena told the Times that Miami “will never be the same” after the Faena Forum comes up.
