Christopher Gardner Honored At Glide Legacy Gala

A new generation of young professionals and philanthropists came together to support Glide’s legacy of love, leadership and community during the Glide Legacy Gala, A Love Supreme. This was Glide’s fifth annual black-tie affair that recognizes the contributions of members of the community who embody Glide’s passion and spirit as well as the organization’s mission.

This year’s honorees were Pursuit of Happyness author, entrepreneur, philanthropist and single parent Christopher Gardner with the Cecil Williams Legacy Award. (You may remember him as the main character in the Pursuit of Happyness movie starring Will Smith). Gardner’s son, Chris Gardner Jr., was present to accept the award for his father. The Janice Mirikitani Legacy Award went to Doniece Sandoval, a homeless advocate and founder of Lava Mae, an organization that provides mobile showers for the homeless.

Guests enjoyed a hosted bar and hors d’oeuvres from some of San Francisco’s finest restaurants as well as music from Glide’s Ensemble and Change Band and DJ KingMost.
