Miami business mogul and Haute 100 lister Russell Galbut is marking his territory in another spot on Miami Beach in the form of a sprawling 17,000 sq. ft. mansion in the sky. Starting on the third floor and rising up to the rooftop terraces on the seventh, the mega-apartment will be situated near Alton in South of Fifth. The bold build-out is fitting for Galbut, who made much of his fortune in South Beach real estate.

These dimensions are all but unheard of in South Beach and it’s clear that Galbut will have plenty of room for the racquetball court and infinity pool he’s planning to install.  “It’s not actually that big,” says Galbut. “Once you account for the racquetball courts and all of the terraces, you really don’t have that much space left over… Still, there’s really no apartment of that size in South Beach — especially the South of Fifth area.”

The building comes equipped with a robotic parking garage, a Manhattan-esque elevator system that nestles cars into parking spaces without putting drivers through the hassle of doing it themselves. Galbut, a robotic garage enthusiast, is having glass windows installed in his home office so that he can watch the inner workings of the garage.

He’ll be sharing the seven-story building with Radio Bar and Red Ginger, restaurants owned by his first cousins once removed, Jared Galbut and Keith Menin. The posh pad is set to be completed by the end of next year.
