Jewelry designer Kara Ross has recently teamed up with childhood friend designer Tory Burch to launch a jewelry collaboration for Fall/Winter 2010, Kara Ross for Tory Burch. Both designers grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and have led careers in the fashion industry ever since.
As a gemologist, Kara designs her own fine jewelry which emphasizes a modern elegance, appreciation for various cultures, and influences from everyday life. Tory Birch has worked for fashion designers Carolina Herrera and Narcisco Rodriguez before founding her own brand. The work of both designers is influenced by themes from modern art and architecture; both Kara and Tory often incorporate bold lines, intriguing color palettes, and strong textures in their creations.
The new collection involves the evil eye motif which has a strong following in Middle Eastern culture. The pieces include 14 karat gold-plated metal and resin cuff bracelets, rings, chokers, pendants and necklaces. In addition, the jewelry are made with colored enamels and real semi-precious gemstones which compliment the Tory Burch 2010 Fall/Winter collection. The price of the collection items ranges from $195 to $695.
