Sarah Jewell

Sarah Jewell is the owner and attorney at law of River Valley Law, P.A., a firm serving the St. Cloud, Minnesota area and North Dakota in civil litigation, business law, and employment law. She is licensed to practice in Minnesota and North Dakota in both state and federal courts, and she represents individuals and businesses in an approachable, compassionate, and practical manner.

Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, in 1994, where she was selected as the commencement speaker and inducted into the Phi Theta Alpha history honor society. After a career in sales and marketing, she attended Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning her Juris Doctorate in 2011 along with a Certificate in Advocacy and Problem-Solving from Hamline's top-ranked Dispute Resolution Institute. She was named to the Dean's List twice during law school.

Her practice covers employee and employer law, civil and business litigation, real estate transactions and litigation, and agricultural and rural law. Sarah served as Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Rural & Agricultural Law Section Council for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, and she is a member of Minnesota Women Lawyers.

Sarah has been recognized across several years of practice. She was named to Minnesota Lawyer's Power 30 List of Employment Law Attorneys for 2025, received the Minnesota Lawyer Attorneys of the Year Award for 2024 and 2025, and was named 2024 Litigator of the Year. She was a 2024 Super Lawyers MN Honoree and, previously, a Super Lawyers MN Rising Star Honoree from 2018 to 2021. She has appeared on the Lawyers of Distinction list for 2023 and 2025 and earned North Star Lawyer recognition for pro bono service from 2018 through 2024.

Beyond her practice, Sarah lives on a hobby farm where her family raises thoroughbred horses that they race at Canterbury Park, and she is active in 4H activities. She has completed seven full marathons, including Grandma's Marathon three times, the Twin Cities Marathon twice, the Lake Wobegon Marathon, and the Whistle Stop Marathon, along with numerous half marathons. She volunteers with St. Cloud Christian School, co-chairs the SCCS Sports Booster Club, serves on the Benton County 4-H Horse Project Committee, and is a board member of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid.
