The 5 Rituals Jennifer Aniston Follows To Stay Healthy And Thriving

It seemed Jennifer Aniston looked beautifully unchanged in last month’s "Friends: The Reunion" special that aired 17 years after the show’s season finale. Of course, it’s well known that the 52-year-old actress cherishes her health physically and mentally. In fact, she’s even mindful about her celebrity brand deals: “I don’t want to be the face of something if it's not a part of my daily routine. That's really important to me,” she told Vogue

Sure enough, Aniston recently became the Chief Creative Officer of Vital Proteins, which now provokes the star to sip on smoothies boosted with a chocolate-flavored collagen peptide powder. Knowing that collagen production declines with age, she learned of the brand from a functional medicine doctor who suggested Aniston add the supplement to her regimen. “My joints, my nails, my hair, my skin everything just started to improve,” she said. Speaking of regimens, she also recently shared five rituals that keep her thriving. Solicitous yet simple, you need to check them out!

1. Mornings mean no phone but yes coffee

Though it seems practically impossible to avoid using your phone in the morning, Aniston certainly mastered how to overcome this temptation. For at least 1 hour after waking up, she doesn’t look at her phone and said this small habit impacts the rest of her day. “I have my chargers in a drawer six feet away from my bed and I have a little iPod or iPhone from 1912 that I swiped clean and strictly use for my alarms and my sleep apps,” she said. “It’s so interesting because you start getting these text messages that are like, ‘Hello? Where are you??’ Where am I? I’m taking my time! I'm waking up with my dogs!”

In the meantime, the actress religiously prepares her morning coffee. Over a fresh brew, she adds her Vital Proteins Original Peptides Powder, cinnamon, a Stevia packet, and steamed almond milk (she noted that she gives herself real milk every once in a while). Finally, she tops it with her guilty pleasure: Hazelnut Coffee Mate. “If the world ever ended and everything disappeared, my Coffee Mate would not,” she said. “It would still survive. That, and cockroaches.”

2. Remain cognizant of what you see and listen to

Social media can be toxic, and Aniston definitely knows that  — with 37.5 million Instagram followers, I mean c’mon. Especially during the peak coronavirus period last year, she expressed how perusing the news each day felt disheartening. For that reason, the actress will take breaks from following up with the outside world through her screen.

I understand the innocence of how [social media] was birthed and the intention was to bring people together and create a social community. And that’s lovely, but you have to take the good with the bad—that people just sit there and throw emotional knives at other people on these platforms,” she said. “This skin is really not hard enough to take any of that.” Whether it’s ignoring the online comments section or finding solace in meditation (she uses the Insight Timer Meditation App) and journaling, Aniston prioritizes seeking peace and gratitude within her life.

3. Embrace a pro-aging mindset

We usually think most young adults rebel through “drugs or alcohol,” but Aniston said she passed on that route for a rebellious phase full of Wonder Bread and “yummy food that was filled with crap” because her mother shielded her from eating junk food as a kid. But after indulging in less healthy foods, the star noticed her new diet didn’t make her feel great. Now, she enjoys the health benefits of practicing intermittent fasting.

“What my Mom used to say to me was, ‘This is about longevity. It’s a privilege to grow old, but we don't have to grow sick.’ It’s just sort of been a theme in my life: to enjoy the age I am and not look at aging as a negative, but as the privilege that it is,” Aniston said. A fan of solving health problems through vitamins and diet, the actress now regularly includes peptides and supplements into her regimen.

4. Never stop educating yourself on advances in health and science

Now more than ever, Aniston said she feels most interested in her health. So, she’s all about continuing to learn as much as she can on different topics. “So I did these salons on Sundays and I had different people come in and speak, like Jessica Yellin on politics; Jay Shetty was one of those guys, he talked about earthing; and David Sinclair about science and living this vital life and growing old,” she said. “I love Dr. Sinclair. I'm just fascinated by the fact that he thinks aging is a disease–and we can cure diseases!” In short, the actress gleans inspiration and new ideas from anywhere, and we admire her for that.

5. Boost your health with effective supplements and products

By now, we already know how much Aniston loves to discover methods that further her health. From consuming her Vital Proteins Collagen Powder to trying out recommendations from “Lifespan” (Dr. Sinclair’s book that focuses on treating diseases and reversing the aging process), she’s one health nut of a celebrity — that said in the best way possible! We applaud you, miss Aniston.
