Dr. Mojgan Fajiram, owner of Sutton Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry is one of New York City’s premier cosmetic dentists, using her passion to enhance the lives of her patients by creating beautiful, healthy white smiles. Patients feel at ease knowing they are receiving excellent dental care from an accomplished, consummate professional, in a state-of-the-art facility that is modern and elegant. Haute Beauty chats with Dr. Mojgan Fajiram, to learn more about your options when it comes to veneers.

HB: What are Veneers?

Veneers are a thin, durable shell of tooth-colored porcelain that are bonded to the tooth surface to improve its overall appearance. Veneers are an excellent cosmetic option to enhance esthetics, giving a lighter, brighter and more youthful smile.

HB: How do Veneers work?

Veneer treatment begins with a consultation, during which we can address a patients concerns and work together to devise a comprehensive treatment plan. After that, veneers are quite simple and generally only require 2 visits one week apart. During the first procedural visit, we will prepare the teeth by removing only a small amount of tooth structure and an impression is made. Temporary veneers will be placed. At the next visit, the temporaries are removed and only after my patient and I are both satisfied with the color and overall shape and size of the teeth, do the veneers get bonded to your teeth. The patient leaves our office being able to go about their day only now feeling utterly fabulous!

HB: Who is the best candidate for this procedure?

Veneers are a great solution for anybody with tooth discoloration, chips or wear, say from grinding or clenching. They can also correct misalignment, crowding and uneven or irregularly shaped teeth. Veneers not only enhance a patients overall smile, but in some cases they can also enhance a patients function and hygiene.

HB: How does this treatment compare to others of the same nature?

Veneers are a relatively conservative approach to smile transformation, as minimal tooth preparation allows us to preserve most of the natural tooth structure. We have the ability to customize tooth color, giving you the exact shade you want using a durable material that is also stain resistant. Because each veneer is hand-sculpted to perfectly fit your tooth, the gum tissues surrounding the teeth are able to respond well, creating an overall healthy dental environment.

HB: What does recovery look like?

There is no downtime with veneers. After veneers are inserted, patients can go back to work, travel, exercise and eat.
