My greatest achievement:
I have been in the private practice of Plastic Surgery for over 25 years. I do not believe there are shortcuts to success and an excellent reputation. It comes from a persistent pursuit of excellence. I am proud that I was able to achieve a certain modicum of renown based on the above principles. I am also quite proud of the fact that over the years I managed to balance my career with quality time with my family, raising the kids and enjoying my many interests beyond plastic surgery.
The future of my field is:
The advances in plastic surgery are gradual, some of the techniques that are considered “latest”, have been around for a decade or two, and might have just been fine-tuned recently. Unfortunately, with the advent of social media plastic surgery is full of hype, and hyperbolae. There are also new non-surgical and minimally invasive devices that have come to the market in the last decade. Some have been oversold, and there are quite a few patients that are disappointed with the results that this new technology can deliver.
The biggest misconception about my field is:
plastic surgery does not leave scars. Reality – there are residual fine scars but they are hidden and eventually fade out quite nicely.
My most requested procedures are:
I am a facelift specialist – therefore facelifts.
What are you best known for?
Best known for facelifts, and endoscopic brow lift – I am one of the pioneers of that technique.
What is your most memorable patient reaction?
A relatively young widow, after a prolonged mourning period, finally decided to “go on living”. She loved her facelift results, and give it a lot of credit for finding happiness again. Since I see my patients for follow up appointments for many months after surgery, I was able to observe her emergence from her cocoon and share in her happiness..
What sets my practice apart:
For the last 2 decades, I run a “boutique” practice specializing in facelift – allowing full attention to the smallest of details from the first contact with our office, to pre-operative evaluation, surgery and very thorough and detailed follow-up visit. Our patients feel that they are part of our office family. When they refer a friend or family member, even years later, they like to come in to say hello to me and my staff.
What I love most about my profession is:
Get to know my patient very well, hear their stories, see how the surgery I perform impacts their lives.
Career defining procedure?
I performed my first independent facelift during my plastic surgery residency. I immediately noted how impacted the patients become after seeing their rejuvenated and vibrant appearance, and how it changed their outlook. From those early days, I was hooked on learning, refining and perfecting my facelift technique.
What new services are you excited to offer?
I am incorporating some less invasive technology, usually in combination with surgery, as opposed to a “stand-alone” procedure.
