HB: What is the Bombshell Lift?

Breast implants trend just like fashion. An implant that looks and feels great one year, may not be right for your body 10 years later. Complications can also occur such as infection, capsular contracture, drooping, asymmetry, or breast implant illness. More recently, textured implants have been associated with an increased risk of a rare type of lymphoma. Whatever the reason, some people ultimately decide to have their breast implants removed. There is usually residual ptosis, or drooping, once implants are removed since the skin has stretched over time. The Bombshell Lift is a breast lift technique I use after removing breast implants to restore the natural shape of the breast back into a youthful appearance while maintaining the perkiness and volume associated with implants.

Introducing #TheBombshellLift by #DrJohnsonLee 💥 This lift utilizes a special technique that Dr. Lee has created to mimic the look of implants during an implant removal. During this procedure, the tissue is redistributed internally to project and give fullness. This patient here underwent an implant removal AKA explant, the after photo on the right has NO IMPLANTS! This is ideal for our patients who come in with concerns about #breastimplantillness , experience back pain from heavy implants, or are wanting a slimmer or more natural look. HB: How does the Bombshell Lift work?

During the procedure the existing breast implants are removed. Any scar capsule which has formed around the implant is completely removed as well. The breast tissue is then manipulated and advanced in a way to provide volume to the top of the breasts and to add cleavage while lifting the base higher onto the chest. The areolas are then resized and moved into the appropriate position for the new breast mound.

HB: Who is the best candidate for this procedure?

The best candidates are patients who no longer want implants and anticipate having some drooping or flattening of their breasts. They must also have enough of their own native breast tissue to use to restore the breast shape.

HB: How does this proedure compare to others of the same nature?

A standard breast lift after implant removal usually results in an appropriately positioned nipple, however the upper pole of the breast is usually flat while the majority of the breast volume sits lower on the bottom.

HB: What does recovery look like?

Patients should take about 10-14 days to recover. Depending on the size of the implants removed and the amount of manipulation, some patients may receive drains which are usually removed after the first week. Discomfort is usually minimal and patients report the pain to be much less than their original implant surgery.
