Oculoplastic and eyelid surgery expert Dr. Keshini Parbhu started her practice in Orlando in 2010. She serves as volunteer faculty and has an appointment with the University of Central Florida College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is also certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, an elite and prestigious society of approximately 500 members. Dr. Parbhu has been named one of Orlando’s Best Doctors since 2013.
She has an interest in reconstructive as well as cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures. She takes pride in her specialization in knowing a lot about a small part of the body! The three areas of interest in oculoplastics are eyelids, lacrimal and orbital disease. She has a particular interest in upper and lower blepharoplasties, ptosis repair, eyelid reconstructions following skin cancer reconstructions, lacrimal duct reconstructions, and orbital disease. Dr. Parbhu believes that nonsurgical procedures are important to help maintain a rejuvenated appearance and offers a wide array of services to help achieve this. She performs injectable facial rejuvenation procedures including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, Sculptra, and Kybella. She has light and laser-based devices that address a wide array of skincare concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and tone, scarring (including acne), stretch marks, tattoo removal, and pigmentation. She has a special interest in addressing pigmentation in all skin types including darker skin tones. Finally, she offers radiofrequency assisted lipolysis technology in the form of Accutite and Facetite as well as radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus8). In combination, it is referred to as Embrace RF – this allows for surgical type results with a minimally invasive approach. Areas of the face that can be treated include the brows, upper and lower eyelids, nasolabial folds and the lower face (jowls and neck laxity). This technology allows for fat contouring, skin tightening and collagen production. Dr. Parbhu believes that each person is unique and likes to have a collaborative approach in developing a treatment plan that is often a journey in achieving natural-appearing results. She spoke with Haute Beauty about the biggest misconception in her field, the surgical advancements she's most excited about and what services she's excited to offer.
My greatest achievement:
I would definitely say my greatest achievements are my babies: son, daughter and my practice.
The future of my field is...
I'd call it exciting – there are always advances in surgical techniques and technology! That’s what I love about my specialty! The current trend seems to be minimally invasive approaches.
The biggest misconception about my field is...
The biggest misconception is that specialists in my field only do surgeries of the eyelids! As oculofacial plastic surgeons, we focus on surgery of the eyelids, orbit and lacrimal system. The eyes are such an important organ and I believe the most important of the five senses. The eye is so intricate and the external structures that my specialty focuses on are important in allowing for ocular health. That’s why there is a specialty devoted to it! We have to ensure when we are operating on the periocular area that we do so in a manner that the eye is not harmed.
My most requested procedures are:
blepharoplasties. LIDS, LIDS AND MORE LIDS! And I love it!
What surgical advancements are you most excited about?
Radiofrequency technology by InMode- I’m excited to be one of the first doctors to obtain the AccuTite device. It can be used on its own or along with FaceTite and Morpheus8. AccuTite allows for RF contraction of small areas of the face including the eyelids, brows, nasolabial folds and jowls. FaceTite allows for minimally invasive rejuvenation of the lower half of the face including the jowls, submental area and neck.
What are you best known for?
My eyelid and brow surgeries
What is your most memorable patient reaction?
I had a patient tell me about how much it had changed her life – that she finally felt that she looked how she felt. She no longer had people telling her that she looked tired. And the icing on the cake was that her field of vision was expanded and she was noticing things she hadn’t before!
What sets my practice apart is:
I have a focused practice in my specialty of oculofacial plastic surgery. I love knowing a lot about a small part of the body!
What I love most about my profession is:
I love that I can help people improve their quality of life. Often I help people see better AND look better.
Career defining procedure?
Blepharoplasties – it’s what I do more of than anything else!
What new services are you excited to offer?
I’m excited to have recently introduced InMode’s Embrace RF system. This system has three components – Morpheus8, AccuTite and FaceTite. Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling is like microneedling on steroids – the needles are 2 mm longer and it releases RF energy when released. It is great for skin texture, scarring, stretch marks, pigmentation and also aids in collagen production. It’s a true gamer when it comes to minimal downtime and minimally invasive treatments. FaceTite and its smaller counterpart, Accutite, are handpieces that deliver both internal and external RF energy. The internal component is delivered through a small opening made by a needle. The deeper RF energy combined with the external heat delivery allows for fat contouring, collagen production and skin tightening – think of your skin being like shrink wrap! The before and after results of it are impressive. It’s great to finally have an option for patients that is minimally invasive but has real results.
