Shiseido celebrated the launch of its new holistic skincare line, Waso, at the Shiseido Malibu House with a Japanese superfood-inspired tasting and demo led by Celebrity Chef Shirley Chung. The new line is designed for specifically unstable and unbalanced skin in young adults, ages 18-25. Inspired by the holistic and natural Japanese food tradition of Washoku - or Japanese cuisine - Waso features key ingredients selectively chosen for their purity to create a minimalist line-up of products that take a unique approach, fusing nature and technology. Waso is designed specifically for unstable, unbalanced skin in young adults, ages 18-25.

The tasting Was led by Chef Shirly Chung and Tiffany Carter-Thompson, VP of US Integrated Communications at Shisheido, to bring to life the Waso products through a sensory experience of Washoku cuisine. Each dish featured superfood ingredients such as carrot, loquat, honey, tofu yuzu, and red basil that are all found in the Waso products. Chef Shirley Chung prepared honey roasted heirloom baby carrots with whipped tofu and yuzu aioli, magical mushroom garden salad: marinated and roasted mushrooms, carrot ribbons, sweet gem lettuce, loquat and almond butter "mud", yuzu vinaigrette, and crispy tofu croutons along with wontons with honey yuzu vinaigrette and chili oi filled with roasted mushrooms, carrots and tofu then topped with pickled carrots and micro cilantro.

Waso's advanced Japanese technology includes Shiseido's PhytoResist System+ and Whole Cell Release System. PhytoResist System+ is designed for unstable young adult skin to heighten skins barrier and support its ability to self-renew and Whole Cell Release System W is a revolutionary process in which nutrients are carefully extracted and delivered directly to the skin, infusing it with moisture. Each product is dermatologist tested and non-comedogenic, paraben-free and mineral oil-free so the skin can breathe easy.

The Clear Mega-Hydrating Cream, Quick Gentle Cleanser, Color-Smart Day Moisturizer Oil-Free Broad-Spectrum SPF 30, Beauty Sleeping Mask and Purifying Peel Off Mask are available at Sephora.com and all Sephora stores.
