Given that Lily James is best known for playing Cinderella, it's no wonder she's actually having a dream come true.
The British actress, who has also starred in the likes of Downton Abbey, War and Peace and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, was named the new face of My Burberry fragrances this week, marking her first ever global advertising campaign. She'll be following in the footsteps of some mighty big modeling shoes, as Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne are the current faces of My Burberry.
Lily’s debut for Burberry will be revealed in August 2016 with a film and series of images shot by Mario Testino for the global launch of My Burberry Black, a fragrance that has been described as both intense and sensual. As created by Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey in collaboration with renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, and inspired by a London garden at dusk, the scent fuses the aromas of jasmine flower and peach nectar blended with vanilla and candied rose. The fragrance is housed in a rich, amber-colored glass bottle, whose overall design reflects the details of the black Burberry Heritage Trench Coat.
The 27-year-old actress, who will soon be playing Juliet in a theater production of Romeo and Juliet helmed by Cinderella director Kenneth Branagh at the Garrick Theatre in London, said of the news in a statement, "I am thrilled to be officially joining the Burberry family. I am so proud to be British, so it really means a lot. Shooting my first campaign was so special – I don’t want to give away too much but I had a lot of fun showing a different side of myself.”
Added Bailey, “I’m so delighted to have worked with the very lovely and clever Lily James on our new My Burberry campaign. I have admired her work for quite some time and was bowled over by her wonderful charm and her warmth when we met so it was a treat to have had the opportunity to collaborate on this shoot together."
