Pacific Heights just got a little hauteur. Space NK, the leading luxury beauty retailer from London, has opened its first free-standing boutique in San Francisco on the corner of Fillmore and Pine streets. According to Space NK’s managing director, Noah Rosenblatt, Fillmore is the perfect neighborhood for the brand. “We answer the needs of the local customer,” he told Haute Living. “They are very discerning and inquisitive and, paired with our beauty advisor training, we feel it’s a perfect match. The location also allows us an opportunity to showcase the brand to the most cosmopolitan of tourists who explore the area.” The project took over a year to plan and Space NK waited until the ideal storefront became available before setting up shop. “Although it was a project in the works for many, many months, once we secured the space the opening was fairly seamless,” Rosenblatt said. “We’ve also received a very warm welcome from the community with so many of our neighbors coming in to say hello.”
An expertly curated assortment of beauty and wellness products are available at the shop. It’s an all-inclusive boutique that has everything from skincare to home scents to hair styling solutions. Some of our favorite brands are found at Space NK including Oribe, Chantecaille, Natura Bissé, By Terry, and Malin + Goetz. Over 70 lines are on hand and the Fillmore Street shop is the “the first of our US stores to introduce Surratt Beauty and Byredo into our assortment,” Rosenblatt explained. “We’ll also be introducing new brands and exciting products that are exclusive to Space NK in San Francisco. For example, we’ve just introduced a set from Kevyn Aucoin that was curated specially for Space NK called The Making Eyes Kit and includes some of their bestsellers and all the essentials for creating a smokey eye this fall.”
The emporium is sophisticated and laid back with a contemporary design and art commissioned by local sculptor Ricardo Richey. He created a colorful and abstract spray paint mural on the exterior wall of the store on Pine Street. Space NK plans to update the mural seasonally with various artists participating. The beauty haven will also host regular events that feature experts and founders of their most popular brands. On September 17, Lipstick Quen’s founder Poppy King will be on hand to discuss her newest innovation, Black Lace Rabbit. On October 22, sisters Cecil and Rebecca Booth, of Veneffect, will provide personal skin consultations. What beauty items should discerning San Franciscans be shopping for? Space NK’s head of merchandising, Heather Connelly, says to be on the lookout for deeper eye and lip colors, copper eyeshadow, and heavier moodier scents for the upcoming season. Find these items and so much more at the new Space NK at 2000 Fillmore Street.
