It might be an odd choice for an after party, but those who attended the shindig celebrating Relativity Media's Movie 43 seemed to be enjoying themselves. The venue of choice was Madame Tussauds Hollywood, where stars were able to pose with wax figures while imbibing Purity Vodka cocktails (a disastrous situation, for some) and noshing on bites themed to the movie, such as luscious round of melons, big beefy balls and chili beanery.

Chef Joshua Skenes of Saison has come a long way from his experimental pop-up in 2009. With sommelier and co-owner Mark Bright, Skenes mastered his way into Saison’s first brick and mortar in San Francisco’s Mission district within one year. His 12-24 course menu and unconventional cooking method - drawing flavors through the use of fire - earned a number of accolades, including Michelin’s two-star rating in 2012 and 2013.

There must be over 20 current models of BM Ws, what with the 1s, 3s, 5s, 6s and 7s, all the X-variants, the SUV types and the M-model hot rods, not to mention the Alpina B7, the mother of all Big Bimmers. Into this assemblage gracefully slides BM W’s newest body style, the Gran Coupe (note the lack of the “D” and the absence of an accent mark). While others (like Mercedes-Benz and Audi) have had a sleek touring version of their four-door sedans for a while, BM W just joined the svelte party but, to the eye of many, it was worth the wait.
