Dubai Fashion Week aims to promote the seasonal prêt a porter of many UAE and international fashion designers. This year’s “by invitation only” event fashion trade event of Fall/Winter 2011 included fashion designers Chinese Kay Li, Lebanese Sarah Mrad, Polish Anna Gurgacz, Syrian Sara Al Refai, German fashion design Sophie Wanney, Syrian designer Azadeh Zandi, and the grand finale of the season leading Indian fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh.

Katherine Bernhardt’s “Rite of Spring Passage” at Carbon 12 Gallery
Opening tonight at Dubai’s Carbon 12 Gallery is “Rites of Spring Passage”, an exhibition of recent works by American artist Katherine Bernhardt. Her work features images of actresses and singers, rappers and fashionable models effectively examining ultra-western ideas of beauty in opposition to North African cultural practices.
