It’s a huge day for film! Haute 100 Los Angeles member and filmmaker extraordinaire Steven Spielberg revealed on Friday, July 22, his plans to revive the beloved Jurassic Park films, saying he currently already has a story and a screenwriter for Jurassic Park 4. The director made his announcement at Comic-Con, much as Haute 100 San Francisco member Francis Ford Coppola did just the other day with his film, Twixt.

Haute 100 San Francisco member Francis Ford Coppola had Comic-Con 2011 absolutely abuzz with news of his arrival. Reasons as to why the 72-year old directing legend would be appearing there – twenty years since his last, and very brief, appearance in 1991 – had convention-goers rife with anticipation. Turns out Coppola was there to reveal his latest work, Twixt, a new film with footage based on a dream he had and stars Val Kilmer, who was also present.

Yesterday evening, July 24, Haute 100 New York member Mayor Michael Bloomberg changed the game by officiating a same-sex marriage in New York. Not only did this take place on the first day of marriage equality in New York, but the marriage was between two of Bloomberg’s staff members, John Feinblatt, his chief policy advisor, and Jonathan Mintz, the city’s commissioner for consumer affairs.

Kaseem ‘Swizz Beatz’ Dean has signed on as Reebok’s creative director for their newest artist/brand collaboration and, on Tuesday, July 19, the Haute 100 New York member and Reebok Classics unveiled their biggest joint venture to date, the 2011 Reethym of Lite campaign, to celebrities and influencers worldwide. The campaign celebrates the new Reebok Lite footwear and apparel collection and the classic, iconic Reebok styles – with a high-tech remix.

Haute 100 Miami member Micky Arison, CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines and Miami Heat owner, has handed control of the NBA team down to his son, Nick Arison. The 30-year-old will now be CEO of the team, a position created for Nick that will give him day-to-day control over the franchise.

Haute 100 Los Angeles member Tom Cruise has been in South Florida filming a new movie, a film adaptation of the wildly popular Broadway musical, Rock of Ages. Cruise plays the lead as rocker Stacee Jaxx and, on Monday, July 18, he performed a free show for over a thousand fans at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

The late Jess Jackson – co-founder of the renowned Kendall-Jackson Winery, passionate racehorse owner and breeder, and Haute 100 San Francisco member – continues to live on through his label and his ardent love of racing with the inaugural running of the $50,000 Jess Jackson Stakes. The race will honor Jackson and will be run at the Sonoma County Fair this August 6th.
