celebrity chefs
Some of our favorite restaurants in Los Angeles just so happen to be owned and operated by celebrity chefs. If you’re in the mood for some truly amazing food (and to hopefully sneak a peek at that guy from “Top Chef”) here are our top picks for the best eateries in which to find food, fame, and fortune all in the same place.
Best cheek stain
Is there anything more attractive than a flushed face? Think right after a good workout, sans sweat, or the rosy hue you’ll find on your cheeks after a day of fun in the sun. Here are our picks for the best cheek stains that will replicate that peachy perfect glow we so covet.
Malibu Beach Inn
Driving up the coast along the PCH, you already know a few things about the Malibu Beach Inn. It’s in close proximity to Nikita, Nobu and the Malibu pier, is located on “Billionaire’s Beach” and is owned by mega-mogul David Geffen. Though all these facts might foreshadow how awesome your stay will be, you have no way of knowing just how much you’ll absolutely fall in love with this boutique, 47-room property—we didn’t, at least.
Tom Ford
This week in Los Angeles was all about fashion and philanthropy. Max and Lubov Azaria held a fashion show at home, Tom Ford has been named an inspiration by amfAR and Larry Ellison hosted a benefit to save California’s wildlife. Here are some of the top sartorial and charitable moments of the week.
Hotel Casa Del Mar
Hotel Casa Del Mar’s Terrazza restaurant has one of the best ocean views you’ll find in Los Angeles, but this newly renovated cafe and lounge isn’t just a charming place to sit serenely by the sea: it’s also a great location to indulge in delightful small bites and great wine.
Max Azria
Lubov and Max Azria opened up their Los Angeles home to one of the coolest fashion events of the summer: the first and only presentation of BCBG Max Azria’s Resort 2015 collection.
Haute Scene: Audi Presents AFI’s 42nd Annual Life Achievement Award Tribute
AFI presented a truly memorable tribute to Jane Fonda during its 42nd annual Life Achievement Award ceremony on April 5th. The biggest names in showbiz turned up to support the iconic actor, philanthropist and activist at the Audi-sponsored ceremony. After a three-course dinner, longtime friends and admirers such as Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria, Sally Field, Wanda Sykes, and Lily Tomlin gave speeches, each fondly recalling his or her favorite moments working with the two-time Oscar winner; Jeff Daniels even performed a song he wrote for the occasion entitled “Abs, Buns and Thighs.”
Haute Scene: The 13th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball
The 13th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball transformed the Mandeville Canyon home of Susan Harris and Hayward Kaiser into a glamorous space for haute Hollywood notables to spread their wings on June 7th. Over 650 guests gathered for a chic evening benefitting the non-profit organization’s effort to help individuals out of poverty and homelessness by providing the tools necessary to gain employment. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and seated dinner before awards were handed out to Jeff Skoll and Jim Berk of Participant Media, as well as Jay Sures, the managing director of United Talent Agency. Attendees such as Al Gore, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Rebecca Gayheart-Dane and Eric Dane, Balthazar Getty, and Diane Kruger were then treated to performances by Gavin Rossdale and Karmin.
Haute Scene: Women in Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards
The power women of Hollywood stepped out to toast the stars of film and television who have made an impact in the entertainment industry over the last year at Women in Film’s 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 11th. The evening was entitled “Exceptional,” which was a fitting theme given the A-list honorees. Shonda Rhimes presented Kerry Washington with the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television, while Cate Blanchett accepted the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film from Laura Dern. Additional winners included Eva Longoria with the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award, Rose Byrne with Max Mara’s Face of the Future Award, and Frozen director Jennifer Lee with the Dorothy Arzner Directors Award. The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza-held evening was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and sponsored by Max Mara, BMW, Perrier-Jouët and South Coast Plaza.
