On April 24, a record-breaking 550 guests arrived at the annual fundraiser, Dinner on the Desert hosted by the Desert Botanical Garden. The theme for this year’s festivities was, Spirit of the Garden, the event celebrated Native American bronze sculptor Allen Houser as well as the Garden’s objective of breathing new life into the many wonders of the desert.

On May 6, The New York Junior League celebrated their 2nd Annual “Babes, Bags and Bubbles” Auction, which featured luxurious handbags and jewelry. The event benefited the Women’s Cancer Prevention Program and other NYJL charitable initiatives.

The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation celebrated their 2nd annual “New York Bag Ladies Luncheon,” hosted by The Real Housewives of New York star, Jill Zarin and featuring a performance by Tony award winner, Joanna Gleason, who garnered thunderous applause from the audience after an exclusive performance of “I Hate My Purse!” from the hit Off Broadway show Love, Loss, and What I Wore.

The Central Park Conservancy’s Women’s Committee hosted their annual luncheon in the six acre Conservatory Garden, where guests arrived in beautiful hats ranging from elaborate to elegant. Nicknamed “The Hat Luncheon,” this event began 28 years ago when 75 concerned women gathered to help refresh a neglected Central Park, now the celebration has become a marquee event in New York.

The 69th Annual Bal des Berceaux fundraiser was held at the Plaza Hotel on May 7, where proceeds from the lavish event benefited seven charities in the U.S. and France, while this year a portion of the funds also went to helping orphaned children in Haiti.

On May 8, guests arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to celebrate the 28th Annual Otis Scholarship Benefit & Fashion Show, where Dr. Bijan Pakzad was honored with the Designer of the Year Award and Tyrus Wong received the Alumni Achievement Award.

Operation Smile welcomed guests to their annual gala at Cipriani Wall Street, which included a special performance by Caitlin Moe. Nick Canon hosted the festivities as Operation Smile celebrated their astounding accomplishments in India throughout the past year where they completed over 1,000 free surgeries for children suffering from cleft lip and/or palate.

Boys & Girls Club San Francisco hosted its 2010 Annual Gala on April 28 at Bimbo’s 365, where the event raised an astounding $567,000 and attracted over 350 guests. This year’s theme was centered on our youth and titled “Success Futures,” it honored Board member Larry Baer for his 14 years of service.
