On Tuesday 13 May, Karl Lagerfeld presented the CHANEL 2014/2015 Cruise show on The Island in Dubai. A landmark event for Dubai’s fashion and luxury industry, at sunset and with the futuristic megapolis skyline as the backdrop, the designer offered a cruise trip from the Orient to the Occident. The garments put forth revealed a multitude of exotic influences from the Far East seen through long beaded necklaces, lots of gold attire and intricate mosaic-like patterns.

The big announcement of today was that Lady Gaga has confirmed that the ARTPOP Ball global tour will now kick off its European leg in Dubai on 10 September 2014 due to the addition of a new show at Meydan Racecourse. Created between 2011-2014, the works on display reveal the commonplace everyday pleasures that the population who live in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem partake in day after day, despite the arduous political and economic conditions and their limited freedom of movement. Habjouga reveals these insignificant moments of daily life with a warm sense of humor in vivid contrast to the more widely viewed reportage, focused on violence and conflict.
