Yesterday afternoon, one of my dear friends, Denise Rich, hosted a shopping fete in her Manhattan penthouse, to benefit the foundation she created in honor of her late daughter, Gabrielle. Denise and her sisters Ilona and Daniella created Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research in 1996 in memory of their beloved Gabrielle Rich Aouad, who passed away at the age of 27 after fighting Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Shopping for charitable causes can always boost one’s spirits, so following the afternoon of retail therapy, I caught up with Jennifer Rothenberg ending the day just as good as it started.

What’s better than a casual Monday night dinner at your best friends’ house? It was rainy and cold in the city last night, so it seemed the perfect evening to hunker down with friends Lizzie and Jon Tisch, where we dined on delicious grilled salmon, served with lentils and salads, and chocolate cake with berries for dessert, and chatted about Jonathan Tisch’s new book called “Citizen You: Doing Your Part to Change the World.”

There is never a dull moment in New York City, particularly when friend, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Dylan Lauren is involved. Such was the case this past Saturday morning when the CEO and founder of Dylan’s Candy Bar hosted a special event to benefit ASPCA. As Dylan explained to me, “Basically my goal was to raise awareness for ASPCA, encourage people to adopt pets, and to find homes for the animals that were there.”

What better way to spend a Friday afternoon in the city than at a lunch hosted by Rena Sindi at Bochic Jewelry? Our lovely hostess was decked out in bright blue Louboutins, and we were thrilled to welcome her back from across the pond after the terrible challenges presented by the volcano in Iceland. Bochic is one of the preeminent names in jewelry design, with a who’s who of clients, including the ever-chic First Lady Michelle Obama.

I have never seen Christie’s as happening as it was last night. There were artists, collectors, and fabulous people making their way into the rooms of the auction house. I don’t know who wasn’t there but I can tell you who was: the beautiful Samantha and Aby Rosen (the latter of which has graced more than one Haute Living cover), Ted Danson, Lizzie and Jon Tisch, Ulla and Kevin Parker, Salma Hayek, Bronson van Wyck, Chevy Chase, Natalie and Edward Kaplan, Daphne Guinness, Renee and Mark Rockefeller, Brian Williams, John Demsey, Matt Lauer, Ron Meyer and Jeff Zucker. And while it seemed that the entire world was at Christie’s, this is New York, so naturally the city was abuzz with many other intriguing events.

Easter Sunday was a celebratory day for many of us, but what made this past Easter weekend even better was the surprise wedding of Nicole Hanley and Matthew Mellon. It was an intimate affair at the home of Diane and Alex von Furstenberg. Not just the bride, but all of the guests, including Minty Mellon (daughter of the groom, wedding coordinator, bridesmaid, and ring bearer) were in white.
