Dori’s World: Lunching with the Ladies

On Tuesday, Caryn Zucker and Serena Boardman hosted a lunch for Catherine Malandrino at the townhouse of Samantha and Aby Rosen. The whole first floor was filled with racks of dresses, jewelry, and great tops. In the back room, there was a yummy buffet lunch set up for all the ladies who attended, which included Debbie Peltz, Emilia Fanjul, Nina Davidson, Christina Floyd, Samantha Boardman Rosen, Fernanda Niven, Charlotte Blechman, and Nicole Hanley.

Dori’s World: An Intimate Monday Luncheon

One of my dearest friends, Debbie Peltz—my college roommate at Boston University freshman year before she left me and went to NYU—planned an intimate birthday luncheon on Monday for a small group of girls, and what a fabulous job she did, along with the assistance of Party Artistry. Debbie is an attorney, top Sotheby’s broker, and the mother of three adorable boys.

Dori’s World: Teens Making a Difference on Friday Night

On Friday night was an event showing that teenagers really do make a difference. Teens Making a Difference, sponsored by Rocawear, held their second annual fundraiser at Seth Greenberg’s Espace, in NYC on May 7, raising more than $70,000. Chairing the event was Andrew Warren, son of Marcy and Michael Warren. More than 300 NYC teens turned out to support Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for blood-related cancers and research.

Dori’s World: Jon Tisch’s Book Launch; Nicolas Berggruen & Richard Meier’s preview of “Meier on Rothschil...

While last night’s Whitney gala honoring Alexandre von Furstenberg was a huge NYC soiree not to be missed, so too was the launch of my good friend Jon Tisch’s new book, Citizen You. I mean, when you can get a beloved former president to show up at your event, that certainly makes quite a statement. In addition to former President Bill Clinton, also seen in the crowd of our country’s greats at the book launch were Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Lizzie Tisch, Gayle King, Marie-Josée Kravis, Harold Ford, Jeff and Nancy Lane, and Nicholas Berggruen.

Dori’s World: The Whitney Gala Honors Alexandre von Furstenberg

Imagine being lucky enough to have a close friend who is loyal, fun, warm, charming, filled with great energy, has such a way with people, is a great father, and is always there for you. I have just such a person in my life that I feel blessed to call my friend, and last night, all the A-listers came out to honor him. We all showed up in droves to celebrate Alex von Furstenberg and the Diller-von-Furstenberg Family Foundation. At the entrance to the High Line, in the Meatpacking District, the Whitney Museum hosted the 19th annual American Art Award Gala under a big white tent at the museum’s first event at the soon-to-be new $680 million Whitney Museum of American Art.

Dori’s World: Valentino, Kenmare, and Kastel, Oh My!

There was so much going on last night, that today I must break from my traditional posting format, in order to share all of the haute happenings.

Dori’s World: H. Stern Hosts a Breakfast for the Bloggers

Oh, how it pays to be a blogger these days. H. Stern is a jewelry line that I have always loved, and yesterday morning the brand held a breakfast at its Fifth Avenue boutique. Officially, Jennifer Raines, of Cohen Raines PR, explained that H. Stern wanted to break into the new media phenomenon and introduce its collection to a select group of online editors.

Dori’s World: Neil Rubler’s 40th Birthday Party at Boom Boom Room

Allison and Neil Rubler have a very busy schedule, between his real estate career, their passion for collecting art, spending tons of family time with their beautiful daughters, and Ali running the charity, Israel Museum with her sister Meredith Verona. But regardless of their professional, philanthropic, and family commitments, this couple still knows how to have fun, so I wasn’t surprised when they decided to celebrate Neil’s 40th birthday by renting out Boom Boom Room for the night.

Dori’s World: Non-Stop Friday Night Parties in NYC

I can’t even begin to tell you what a terrific Manhattan night this was. It started of with Whitney Sudler-Smith’s documentary movie, Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Andrew Saffir threw an incredible after-party at Quattro in Trump Soho. The restaurant is the latest culinary venture from Karim Masri and Nicola Siervo. Later, the crowd moved into the new lounge at Trump Soho, a venue that will be celebrating its grand opening on Tuesday night. I also stopped by Pippa Cohen’s birthday fete and finished the night at Mike Satsky’s place, Provocateur.
