Certainly the sleepy little town of Hollywood would not be considered one of the hauter places that we boast about here in South Florida, so reporting on the goings-on there is not typically at the top of our agenda. But today’s news involves a multimillion-dollar hotel project, and numbers like that always pique our interests, especially when big name celebrity entrepreneurs are involved.

Today marks the start of one of our favorite weeks in NYC. It’s time once again for the Gen Art Film Festival presented by Acura, and this one is sure to be big because it marks the 15th anniversary of the cultural event. From now until next Tuesday, April 17, the creative minds who have been defining our zeitgeist since 1996 will deliver on their annual theme of “7 Premieres and 7 Parties,” where the format shows seven feature films and seven shorts from up-and-coming filmmakers, followed by seven after-parties at some of our favorite NY nightspots, like Avenue, SL The Park and Hudson Terrace.

The famous “Fight Doctor” that stood by boxing legend Muhammad Ali’s side (as well as 12 other world champions) is giving us a personal insight as to what it was like to be the man in the corner of the ring in his new book, Tales from the 5th Street Gym, launching tonight at El Scorpion Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar

Looking for a restaurant that will tickle your taste buds? The San Francisco Bay area has plenty to offer. Restaurants are flourishing throughout the region, making it difficult for the area’s leading food critic, Michael Bauer, to choose his top 100 for the San Francisco Chronicle. With new dining venues popping up all around the area, it wasn’t easy for Bauer to choose between old favorites and new hot spots, but a few that made the cut were RN74, Frances, and Flour + Water.
