A major bonus to living in Venice is being surrounded by amazing Angeleno architecture. From Dennis Hopper’s corrugated compound to Frank Gehry’s Chiat/Day Building accented with larger-than-life-size binoculars courtesy of Claus Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Venice boasts some of the best buildings in town. And lucky for me, they’re all within walking distance of my digs.

I often drag my boyfriend around the neighborhood on site-seeing trips through the ’hood. We usually stop to admire the Vanguard Loft House, just around the corner from our abode. So, when a little bird told me that the amazing creation at 122 Mildred has gone on the market minutes ago, I had to do a little digging to find out if the rumors were true.

Turns out they are. Curbed LA reported the listing on Redfin for the three-bedroom, three-bathroom split-level home today and a visit to the Redfin website confirmed that the home is for sale, as of two days ago.

Designed by Architect Danny Kaplan in 2006, the Vanguard Loft House has always stood as a marvel of modernist architecture; though over the past few years, the current owners have updated the property and home to include landscaped grounds with a Zen-garden feel and an outdoor fire pit and built-in seating.

Located just one block from the beach, the 2,900-square-foot home boasts slab concrete and hardwood floors, exposed brick and loft-style high ceilings. Gigantic windows flood the space with light during the day and a mod metal fireplace keeps residents toasty at night. The Vanguard Loft House also comes with four parking spaces, a boon to the property. Just ask anyone who has ever tried to park on the street during beach season.

Listed at $2.295 million, I can’t imagine that this home is going to be on the market for long. Prospective buyers may even find themselves in a bidding war with yours truly. Forget Barbie — this is my dream house!
