Vermillion Chef Competes to Becomes the Next Iron Chef
As executive chef of Vermilion in New York City and Chicago, Maneet Chauhan is at the helm of executing the provocative melding of the Indian and Latin cuisines based on both deep historical and geographical cross-influences. After being an Iron Chef Challenger, she is prepared to take on the title to become The Next Iron Chef. Inspired by Maneet’s ongoing research, trials and zest for experimenting and concept originator Rohini Dey’s vision and travels. Since its opening, Vermilion has been lauded by Time, FT, USA Today, Esquire, Travel & Leisure, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Town & Country, Business Week, Chicago Magazine, 3 Stars Chicago Tribune, O Magazine and FSB among others.
Maneet’s culinary career began after she graduated from the top of her class at the WelcomGroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, India’s top culinary and hotel management school. She interned at some of India’s finest hotels and kitchens, including the Taj Group, Oberoi Hotels and Le Meridian. Chauhan arrived in the United States in 1998 to attend the foremost culinary school in the country, The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, where she graduated with high honors and swept all awards of her batch. She regularly holds cooking and spice classes for the City of Chicago, Sur La Table, CommonThreads, Navy Pier, Parker School, Marshall Fields, Latin School, Whole Foods and Treasure Island among others. She has led Vermilion to host three James Beard dinners at the Foundation House in New York city.
Vermillion will be hosting weekly Iron Chef viewing parties and secret ingredient dinner nights. The series debuted October 3.
