Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Rebecca Taylor Runway Show

Rebecca Taylor is one of the more familiar designers to present during this season’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. She’s notorious for creating timeless styles, elegant floral prints and flowing bohemian silhouettes. During today’s show, Taylor stayed true to her old roots while combining sleek and edgy with flirty and feminine.

The Spring/Summer 2011 collection started out with neutral shades like gray, ivory and pale floral prints. As it progressed, more and more bright colors like Kelly green, cadmium orange and the standout “coral pom pom print” appeared in the mix. In addition, long dresses and skirts and high-waisted, wide-legged jeans gave the collection a hint of ’70s flare while the skinny criss-crossed straps created a subtle, modern sexiness. A favorite by far was the simple, long, slate gray dress that sparkled the entire length of the runway.

The show was packed, with not a single seat in the entire tent left empty. Even the standing crowd was overflowing into the aisles. Shenae Grimes (the new “90210”), Michelle Trachtenberg (“Gossip Girl”) and Carmen Electra were just a few celebrities who showed up to see this inspiring new collection.
