Haute Event: Elie Tahari Shop Opens at Saks Fifth Avenue

News | August 25, 2010

Designer Elie Tahari is no stranger to store openings. In the past 30 years, the fashion icon’s line has opened eight freestanding Elie Tahari boutiques and has been picked up in 40 countries worldwide, with more than 600 stores in the United States alone.

Although Saks Fifth Avenue has been carrying the Tahari brand for many years, today Saks held a grand opening for the new Elie Tahari shop within its flagship Fifth Avenue store. Elie Tahari was there himself to see the opening, and made a brief speech before he cut the ceremonial ribbon along with Saks Fifth Avenue’s CEO Steve Sadove. The two were surrounded by models wearing “I Heart ET” T-shirts.

Other attendees of the event included vice chairman and chief merchant of Saks Ron Frasch, Saks’ vice president divisional merchandise manager of the Greater NYC area Chris Phillips, the Fifth Avenue location’s general manager Suzanne Johnson, and Elie Tahari’s president of wholesale and merchandising Helaine Elias.
