On Aug. 21, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) presented the 2009-2010 Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.

Haute Event: The 62nd Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

On Aug. 21, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) presented the 2009-2010 Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. These awards are typically held one week before the actual Emmys, which will air live this Sunday, Aug. 29, and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

The majority of the Creative Arts Awards are dedicated to behind-the-scenes work, such as art direction, cinematography, makeup, music, editing, visual effects and stunts. Awards are also given out for animation, commercials and reality series.

There are only four are acting categories during these awards, which included:

  • Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Ann-Margret for Law & Order: SVU
  • Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Betty White for hosting Saturday Night Live
  • Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series: John Lithgow in Showtime’s Dexter
  • Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Neil Patrick Harris in Glee

Other notable awards went to Jeff Probst of Survivor for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program, as well as the editors of Lost for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards was not televised live, but will air on E! this Friday at 1 p.m.
