If you are a concert-goer and like to hear live music, Atlanta is the place for you. Our city is filled with live music venues that host some of the world’s greatest artist. Whether you are a Jay-Z fan or prefer more of the indie music, here are five of Atlanta’s best music venues.

The Fox Theatre

The historic Fox Theatre is one of the premier venues for Atlanta music and live entertainment and it is one of the oldest and most impressive. Throughout the year, The  Fox Theatre hosts a variety of cultural and artistic events including The Atlanta Ballet, a summer film series, and performances by national touring companies of Broadway shows. This is in addition to the great performances by artists including such as Lady Gaga. With its traditional, grand movie theatre aesthetics and dazzling ballrooms, The Fox Theatre always ensures a memorable night.

Smith’s Olde Bar 

 This neighborhood Atlanta joint is known for showcasing  local talents in Atlanta.  Groups and artists like B.O.B are booked at this midtown venue, and then the next day they have blown up.  The music stage at Smith’s Olde Bar is above the bar and can hold about 300 people. Also, a few years ago, the “Atlanta Room” opened below the main stage and features more acoustic-style nightly acts. Smith’s Olde Bar has hosted music greats including David Bowe, Pete Yorn and Drivin’ N’ Cryin”.

The Buckhead Theatre

After two years of construction, The Buckhead Theatre (formally Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre ) once again opens its doors as Atlanta’s premier theatrical venue. First opened in 1931 as a movie theater, the newly-renovated space has 2,500 seats and will host lectures, comedians, Broadway plays, public and private special events and concerts. We can’t wait to see the shows in October, including the Indigo Girls, Drive By Truckers and Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

 Chastain Park Amphitheatre

Recognized as one of the most popular amphitheatres in the country, Chastain Park Amphitheatreis located in Buckhead off of Roswell Road. For many, summer kicks off with the start of the Chastain concert summer series. . This relaxed outdoor arena is fun and has a lineup that spans all genres. Spread out your tablecloth, open your bottle of wine and enjoy the sounds of the summer. We recommend buying season tickets, especially if you live close by. Although you have already missed concerts by some great bands like Goo Goo Dolls and Santana, there is still time to catch Donna Summer and Bill Idol with Joan Jett.

The Tabernacle

The Tabernacle opened in Atlanta in 1996 and has since been an institution on the Atlanta music scene. This converted church can hold up to 2600 people and has a general admission floor with two The stage is very intimate (you often find yourself standing less than 10 feet away from your favorite performer) and generally books bands and musicians that have outgrown the smaller venues. Owned and operated by Live Nation, you are guaranteed to see a great concert here.
