Art, Fashion | September 16, 2024

Chanel, the long-standing patron of the Grand Palais, has renewed its commitment to the GrandPalaisRmn for another five years, solidifying its role as the Major Patron of the iconic Parisian landmark. Since 2018, Chanel has supported the Grand Palais’ cultural and artistic programs, and this new investment of 30 million euros will further enhance its artistic influence from 2024 to 2028. The relationship between Chanel and the Grand Palais, which began in 2005 with Karl Lagerfeld’s imaginative fashion shows, has been a defining feature of both entities. Over the years, the Grand Palais has served as a creative playground for Chanel, hosting monumental events that have captured global attention, from recreating a supermarket to launching a full-scale rocket.

Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel Fashion, emphasizes the Grand Palais’ importance to the brand, comparing it to other Chanel landmarks like Rue Cambon and Place Vendôme. As Paris prepares to unveil the newly restored Grand Palais in 2025, Chanel’s investment continues positioning the Grand Palais as a key cultural player in France. With an innovative artistic program planned, including fine arts, contemporary art, and live entertainment, Chanel’s patronage will play a crucial role in this new chapter for the Grand Palais.

The partnership was celebrated in April 2024 when French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the newly named “Gabrielle Chanel” entrance to the Grand Palais Nave. Chanel will return to this iconic venue for its Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear show in October 2024, marking the beginning of a series of art fairs and exhibitions. By June 2025, the general public will have access to newly created spaces, further cementing the Grand Palais as a premier cultural destination.

Chanel’s commitment to heritage and craftsmanship will also be highlighted through the creation of a monumental curtain designed by Studio MTX, which will be embroidered in participatory workshops. Open to the public, these workshops will be held at la Galerie du 19M Paris/Aubervilliers, home to Chanel’s Métiers d’art.
