Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. With a new movie set to release this year, Julian Schnabel’s eye for directing movies is revered by many as artistic genius, and that’s why he’s on the Haute 100 radar.

Industry: Art
What Made Him Haute: This award-winning painter, sculptor, film director, and musician will soon launch his next film, and audiences are eagerly awaiting its arrival.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Schnabel recently previewed to the press the late Dennis Hopper’s show, Dennis Hopper Double Standard, at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. The show received rave reviews for its ingenuity, and Schnabel was congratulated on his work as the curator. Schnabel’s love of art stems far and wide; his works are found in various museums such as Metropolitan Museum of Art, Reina Sofia and Centre Georges Pompidou. Although Schnabel states he is a painter first, the film industry is where he has encountered the most success. With various awards to his name, such as the César Award, Golden Palm, and Golden Globe, Schnabel’s next film, Miral, has critics and movie-goers filled with intrigue. The film will be released at the Venice Film Festival in September 2010.
